The go are definitely an under appreciated band. The go s second last and self titled album is easier on the ear and i highly recommend it. Lp 1 on orange marbled vinyl lp 2 on clear vinyl with yellow purple splatters. Tracks e and f are previously unreleased studio outtakes from the whatcha doin session.

The go was established in detroit in 1996 by bobby harlow john krautner and marc fellis. Lp2 ferdinand attic demos recorded in the attic of jack s childhood home on ferdinand st. Pulled from deep within white s temperature controlled tape vault is a pre studio run through of all the tracks that would end up featured on whatcha doin. The package is centred on a summer sun coloured pressing of whatcha doin while vinyl pressings of the previously unreleased ferdinand attic demos lp and the alternate studio takes 7 inch are.

The production courtesy of outrageous cherry s matthew smith is as raunchy and retro as the band s old school rave ups and definitely highlights the vocals and buzzing guitars over the simple sloppy rhythm section. Someone jack should remix this album and it would be awesome. However while the music rocks the production on this album is lacking in places the drums are almost non existent. Whatcha doin is exactly what primitive r b rock roll sounds like in the hands of five young white boys who have a keen appreciation of fuzz toned guitars and a knack for great hooks.

Mentored by los angeles producer kim fowley the band signed a record deal with sub pop in 1998.
